C.r.e.t.a. Rome's Upcoming Events

We have quite a few exciting events coming up in the next few weeks!  Our current residents Angi Curreri and Amy Santoferraro will both be hosting workshops.

Drawing on traditional ex-voto imagery, the American artist, Angi Curreri composes large-scale installations, such as Heart’s Desire and Tree of Life, Tree of Hope that address the many milestones we hope to achieve, challenges we work through, and defining moments we experience throughout our lifetimes. She will demonstrate her techniques for creating ceramic votives with the theme of world peace. Participants are encouraged to focus on people, places and events targeted by terrorism world-wide as subjects. After firing, the votive offerings will be used to create an installation which will first be displayed in our gallery and then be donated to a public entity in Rome.

The American artist and current Artist in Residence, Amy Santoferraro will demonstrate image transfers onto wet clay slabs and quick forming methods. Silk screening and Xerox transfers will be collaged together to decorate slabs to create shallow plates and platters by pressing traditional plaster hump molds into foam. The workshop will include demonstrations and studio construction time. Participants are encouraged to bring along imagery specific to their personal studio practice and to develop individual ideas and conceptual directions. Each participant may construct up to two pieces. Work may be picked up after firing.
